As Spence Club continued to grow through 2025, the Board recognised the need to expand its operational structure to keep pace with a growing membership base and an ambitious events calendar. To support this, the Board resolved to introduce a fourth committee - the Member Engagement Committee — expanding our committee structure from three to four.
The decision was made at Board Meeting #81, held online on Monday 8 September 2025, ahead of the Board's 2025 Strategy Day and the Club's major recruitment drive in the lead-up to the 2025 AGM. The new committee was formally introduced in November 2025.
The Member Engagement Committee manages Spence Club's members and member engagement platforms, working to understand, attract, support and retain members and improve the overall member experience. It uses member data, surveys and feedback to shape the member journey, partnering closely with the other committees to put that insight into action, and leads campaigns to attract and retain members.
Spence Club's Board now operates across four committees, each chaired by a Director and supported by fellow Board members:
Events Committee
Plays a lead role in the strategic development, planning and organisation of Spence Club events - coordinating speakers, venues, catering and logistics to create engaging, valuable experiences for members.

Projects & Operations Committee
Responsible for the general running and day-to-day operations of the Club, including Board meetings, Strategy Days and AGMs, and for securing sponsorships and partnerships that benefit members.

Communications Committee
Promotes the Board's activities, initiatives and events across social media, the website and email campaigns - raising awareness, attracting new members and building a strong, consistent brand for the Club.

Member Engagement Committee
Manages Spence Club's members and engagement platforms, using member data, surveys and feedback to shape the member journey and lead campaigns to attract and retain members.

This structure ensures every Board member contributes hands-on to at least one area of the Club's operations, in addition to their shared responsibility for delivering events, reflecting Spence Club's position as a genuinely working board, not just an advisory one.
